Mrs. Irene Hubbard Henderson, born October 3, 1950 in Wadesboro NC, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2026. A faithful servant of God, Irene lived a life rooted in love, devotion, and unwavering faith.
Irene was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished aunt, sister, and a true friend to many. She embraced each role God placed in her life with grace and compassion, always putting others before herself. Her nurturing spirit and gentle wisdom touched all who knew her.
Professionally, Irene was a skilled cosmetologist for over 30 years, using her hands not only to beautify others outwardly but also to uplift them inwardly. Her greatest joy, however, was serving the Lord. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, a faithful member of the Deaconess Board, an active participant and president of the Mass choir at Solid Rock Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Pastor’s Aide Committee. Irene’s life was a living testimony of her love for Christ and His people.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving husband, Albert T. Henderson Sr.; her daughter, Sonia Renee Henderson; her sons, (Stevie ) Albert T. Henderson Jr. and Robert Wayne Henderson; her bonus son and nephew, Fred Henderson III, and his wife Ruth Henderson; her beloved grandchildren, Kandice Reaves, Bryson Waden, and Sanayia Henderson; Shiquan Robinson and Kaitlyn Fitzgerald; her sisters, Linda Hines and Joan Phyllis Dines both of Greensboro NC, Virginia Johnson of Ohio, Margaret Rosado of Oklahoma, Ann Lee Hubbard of Charlotte, NC; her brothers , Boston Hamer (Paulette) of Tennessee; George “Jr” (Delores) Marion Hamer both of New York and Kenneth Barnes of Greensboro, NC, along with a host of extended family, church family, and dear friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice "Lois" Hamer (Horne) her father, Jimmy Lee Hubbard, her sisters, Betty Hargrove and Frances Hubbard and her brothers, Reginald Kenneth Hubbard and Daniel Hamer.
Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice knowing that Irene has heard her Heavenly Father say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on in all the lives she touched.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery. Mrs. Henderson may be viewed on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Sonia & family - So sorry for your loss. Your mom was a charismatic, generous and selfless woman. She always looked beautiful when she came to the office despite not feeling well. I have an endearing memory of her wanting to give me her earrings because I complimented them. It has been an honor to take care of her for many years as her primary care physician. I will miss her charm, contagious smile, and generosity. Much love, Rafaela Aguiar or Dr A ❤️
