Pete, Letita, Petie and Dickie: My heart is truly saddened by the passing of my mentor, colleague and friend. Irma was an inspiration and motivator in my life when I worked with her as a college student and later as an adult at the Employment Security Commission, providing Summer Employment and Training for disadvantaged Youth in High Point and Guilford County.

She welcomed me into her home and into her family's life and I will forever be grateful.

Mrs. Irma Mason was the person that encouraged me to get my degree. When she was aware I had returned to get my degree she made sure to donate notebooks and writing material. She encouraged my writing. And that is who Irma was . An encourager. I'm grateful to have known her. To the family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have known Mrs. Mason since the ageF of four: I am now 57. She and her family have been an integral part of my life. She was my first grade teacher and as the years have passed she has been my friend, a second mom, a fellow NCCU Eagle and a true inspiration. The void she leaves can't be filled.
