Mrs. Joyce Anita Lowe, also known as Nete, was born on July 26, 1937, in Mathews County, Virginia, and she peacefully passed away at home on October 25, 2025. She was the first of six children born to Preston Everett (PT) and Joyce Gwendolyn (Mum) Taylor.
Anita was raised in the Susan community and briefly lived in Baltimore, Maryland, before the family moved and settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she graduated from Battin High School in 1955.
After high school, Anita worked professionally as a beautician. She enjoyed styling hair for many families and friends. It was during this time that she met and married Jesse H. Lowe Jr. After completing several training programs, she worked for various electronics companies, ultimately retiring from AT&T Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies in Short Hills, New Jersey, where she earned perfect attendance awards every year. In 1993, Anita and Jesse relocated from Plainfield, New Jersey, to High Point, North Carolina. Being a workaholic, she soon returned to work and retired from Gilbarco in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Anita had a caring and nurturing soul that reached far beyond her immediate family to include many extended family members and friends. She also had a love of cooking and baking, where she welcomed all who shared and enjoyed. She would send cakes to family and friends across the country.
In addition to her husband, Jesse, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Preston E. Taylor Jr. (Junie) and George W. Taylor (Lucky); her sister, Janice M. Taylor (Fannie); her grandson, Amir M. Lowe; her stepson, Jesse R. Lowe (Ronnie); and her stepdaughter, Cynthia D. Lowe (Diane).
Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Duane Lowe; daughter, Deanna Edmonds (Jermaine); sister, Gwynoline B. Caldwell (Gwen); brother, Marlon R. Taylor (Linda); grandson, Aidan C. Davis; stepdaughter, Peggy Love (Robert); step-grandson, Jeffrey Lowe (Jennifer); step-granddaughters, Ca’Sandra Shanea Lowe Ashraf (Ali) and Courtney Lowe; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
