Judy Strawlette Futrell Pemberton passed away on August 21, 2024, in High Point, NC; she was born on November 29, 1954, to the late Leroy and Oletha Burden Futrell in Ahoskie, NC.
Judy was raised in Ahoskie, NC, and received her education in the public schools of Hertford County before starting her work career. She moved to Greensboro, NC, and met the love of her life, Thomas Pemberton, Jr. They were married for forty-nine years and were blessed with two children.
Judy dedicated twenty-six years of service to Cone Mills in Greensboro, NC. After working at Cone Mills, she spent nineteen years at Aramark at High Point Regional Hospital, where she retired as a manager.
Judy had an unwavering devotion to studying and understanding the teachings of the Bible. She had a profound love for connecting with people, constantly extending a helping hand to those in need. Her kind and uplifting words were a reflection of her compassionate nature. Judy found joy in the simplicity of life, finding solace in activities such as sewing, crafting, and treasuring valuable moments with her beloved grandchildren and cherished family. She also found great delight in basking in the serene beauty of the Outer Banks in North Carolina, where the tranquil surroundings gave her peace and contentment.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Thomas Pemberton, Jr., of the home; two children, Avis Julaine Elliott (Jodi) of Yorktown, VA; and Thomas Pemberton, III, of High Point, NC; one stepson, Kenneth Orgias of Greensboro, NC; twelve grandchildren, Daniel, Deion, Jasmine, Alexis, Isaac, Kayla, Jackson, Jacob, Shawn, Andre, Isaiah, and Fate; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Kristopher. She was also survived by two brothers, Gilbert Futrell (Janet) of Ahoskie, NC; Alton Futrell of Suffolk, VA; three sisters, Diane Futrell of Greensboro, NC; Mable Kelly (Sam) of Murfreesboro, NC; Alisha Sessoms (Tony) of Colerain, NC; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
