Leah Michelle Boyd Billingsley, 40, left us on May 4, 2025, at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC. Leah was born on June 5, 1984, to Clark Gary and Renita Ingram Boyd. She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Jacob “Jaycee” Ingram and paternal grandparents, Rev. Johnnie G. and Grace R. Boyd.
Leah did not allow her illness to overshadow her identity or dictate how she lived her life. She passed away after a courageous and heartbreaking seven-year battle with the disease, defying many odds along the way. Despite her battle with cancer, she continued to pursue her passions, maintain her roles, and inspire others, showing that she was much more than her diagnosis. This reflects her strength, resilience, and determination to live fully and positively, regardless of her health challenges. In 2019, Leah was chosen as the face of Hanesbrands' breast cancer campaign. This initiative brought together survivors, warriors, preventers, and supporters who courageously shared their personal stories to raise awareness about the disease. Leah's involvement highlighted her strength and commitment to supporting others in their fight against cancer. Leah's unwavering strength and resilience touched the lives of many, leaving a profound and lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Leah graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 2002. She continued her education at North Carolina A&T State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences in 2006. During her academic journey, Leah also completed an internship sponsored by MARS Incorporated at the University of Arkansas. In 2005, she became a published research author in Food Science under the Institute of Food Technology.
Leah had a distinguished career in corporate compliance and quality assurance. At Hanesbrands Incorporated (HBI), she advanced from Global Quality Compliance Manager in 2014 to Corporate Compliance Senior Manager in 2024.
Before HBI, Leah worked at Lorillard Tobacco Company as a Corporate Quality Systems Engineer, and at Otis Spunkmeyer Incorporated as a Quality Assurance Manager. Her career began at Cargill Incorporated as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. Leah's professional journey reflects her commitment to excellence and significant contributions to each organization she served.
Leah was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband, Wilfred Leonard Billingsley, Jr. and their two cherished children, Ty and Callie Billingsley. Leah's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Leah is also survived by her brother, Clark J. Boyd; cousin-brother, Travis Townsend; her great-great grandmother, Eloise Whitworth; grandmother, Shirley A. Ingram; her aunt, Kimberly Ingram Comer (Timothy), her in-laws, Wilfred L. and Eunice Billingsley, Sr.; she was the loving aunt to Ashton, Addison, Alayna, Jacob, Jackson, Jaiden, Kaitlyn and Aurora. In addition, Leah leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws who will miss her dearly.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
