Obituary For Mrs. Louvenia McCormick

Louvenia Jackson McCormick was born July 14, 1938 in Anson County the daughter of the late Charlie Brack and Maggie Lee Cash Jackson. Louvenia departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward Wayne Jackson; sister, Annie Ruth Jackson and seven other siblings.

Her early life was spent in Anson County, where she attended and graduated from Morven High School in 1958. After high school she moved to High Point, NC seeking to find a job. She landed a job at Lambpart Table Company where she worked many years. She also worked at The Blacksmith Shop. After retiring, she started a second career as a caregiver.

Louvenia was known to many as “Mutt.” She enriched the lives of family and friends by her goodness and faith in Jesus Christ. She lived a life worth emulating and left a fitting memory for others to cherish. She was known for her nurturing spirit and the way she showed love, not only to family, but to whomever she came in contact with. Her smile was an expression of her caring nature and warm heart.

Louvenia confessed Christ at an early age and joined The Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church in McFarlan, NC under the leadership of Rev. G. E. Monroe. She later joined Mount Vernon Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F. O. Bass, Sr. and remained a faithful member. She served on the Deaconess Board, Kitchen Committee, and as a choir member.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James McCormick; her daughter, Patricia Dixon (Perry); her son, Kenneth Leach; three grandchildren, Brandon Quick, Breyana Quick and Nevaeh Dixon; one great grandchild, Briell Green; five siblings, Garthenia Crowder and Donnetta Melton (Perry) of Wadesboro, NC, Beulah Pratt (Houston) of Morven, NC, Irma Nelson and Johnsie Perkins of High Point, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam McCormick (Doretha) and Maxine McCormick of High Point, NC, Rosetta Simmons of Fayetteville, NC, Ina Mae McCormick of Rowland, NC and Anna Louise McCormick of Asheboro, NC; a special nephew, Otis Crowder; a special cousin, Mildred “Peewee” Willoughby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 716 Leonard Avenue, Rev. F. O. Bass, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
