Mrs. Mary Beatrice Jones Reddick, 95, of High Point, NC, transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, August 31, 2020 after an extended period of illness. Known to many as “Momma Bea’’,” “Ms. Bea,” “Nana,” “Momma,” “Toot-Toot,” and ‘Granny,” she was born February 15, 1925 to the late James and Ruth Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward, Phillip, and Paul Jones; one sister, Pearlie Jones; one grandson, James Reddick, II; and one granddaughter, Tiffany V. Murphy.
She was educated in the Guilford County School System where she became an avid softball player graduating from Florence School, class of 1943. In 1944, Mrs. Bea married the love of her life, and from that union came two beautiful children, James Edward (Charlie) Reddick and Rosa Maria Reddick. As a seamstress she was employed by Adam Mills. However, later retiring as a custodial and cafeteria worker from Florence Elementary School in High Point, NC. Mother Reddick was a lifetime member of Tuner’s Chapel A.M.E. Church in High Point, NC, where she was loved by so many, she served faithfully and passionately in several capacities in her younger years and an honorary member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in High Point NC. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars – Rose of Florence Chapter, 550.
A woman of style, who dressed to impress, Ms. Bea always had a beauty tip in her pocket as an Avon representative. A phenomenal woman of excellence working in the yard, planting flowers and trees, replacing a car radiator, putting siding on houses, an amazing cook, and cake baker. A warrior for God utilizing her vocal ability from time-to-time, as she traveled to different churches and functions with her grandson, Reggie who she loved unconditionally she effortlessly lead the Songs of Zion, “His Eyes Is on the Sparrow,” “Jesus is Love,” and “Higher Ground,” starting the songs off and then passing the torch to her grandson she will always be remembered as being a strong support and follower in his music ministry.
Left to continue her legacy and cherish her memory are her loving husband, A.D. Reddick; son, James E. “Charlie” Reddick; daughter, Rosa Maria Reddick; grandchildren, James A. “Dewey” Reddick, Rhonda McCollumn (Kenney Eller), Hassan Reddick, Rodney Attway, and Reginald A. Gillespie, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Jazzmin Carmichael, Sarah McCollumn, and Joseph McCollumn, Jr.; great-great grandchildren, Reginald A. Gillespie II., Gianna Shy Miller; and a host of other relatives, friends, and her church family.
A private funeral service will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Turner’s Chapel A.M.E. Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Reddick may be viewed on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.

Reggie, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Grandmother. She was truly a special lady. She exemplified elegance. Her kindred spirit will be greatly missed.
