Obituary For Mrs. Mary Goins
Mrs. Mary H. Goins, 85, known as “Tuggie” to her family and friends, transitioned from this life into eternity on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was born in Jamestown, NC on March 3, 1939 to the late Nannie Sue Price and Junius Hayes. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Hozel Dukes; husband, Nathaniel Goins; sister, Meria Little; two sons, John Boyd, Jr. and Reginald Boyd; and a great-grandchild, Ityonia Smith
She attended William Penn High School and retired from Adam Millis Hosiery as a knitter. She then operated her own business as a Seamstress. She loved to sew (making clothes), traveling with her family, work crossword puzzles, watching crime movies and eating M&M’s. Her favorite reminder and quote to us was, “I’m the little moma”. She loved all her children dearly, however her greatest pride was taking care of her grand and great grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member of the Missionary Circle. She loved her church family.
She leaves to cherish her memories; daughter, Regina Boyd, Shawna (Greg) Billie and Belma (Kevin) Stevenson; one son, Desi Boyd all of High Point, NC; nine grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a special friend, Virginia Stevenson; and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and other family member and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Park, Winston Salem, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
