Obituary For Mrs. Odessa Hayes

Mrs. Odessa Ophelia Hayes, 89, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Westchester Manor. She was born April 29, 1931 in Randolph County to the late Elizvan Hill and Sarah Walker Hill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Roosevelt Hayes; two sons, Bernard Leroy Hayes and Ronald Lee Hayes; three brothers, Sherman Hill, Charlie Hill, Sr., Saunders June Hill; four sisters, Alta May Hill Spencer, Gertrude Hill Penry, Dorothy Hill Foster and Doris Hill Lee.

She was a faithful member of New Hope Community Fellowship Church until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Jerry Thurandus (Virginia) Hayes of High Point, NC; a niece that was more like a sister, Sarah Mae Spencer Thompson of Trinity, NC; five grandchildren, Felicia (Robert) Boulware of High Point, NC, Kay (KK) Hayes of South Carolina, Derrick Hayes of Winston Salem, NC, Jasmine Martin of Knoxville, TN and Warren Saunders of High Point, NC; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Harshaw Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
