Ola Barbara Watson Witherspoon, 66, departed her earthly life on Monday, July 7, 2025. She was born in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Rudolph Valentino and Evelyn Peguese Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Witherspoon; three sisters, Carolyn “Kitty” Watson, her twin Evelyn “Susie” Collins, and Sarah Briley; three brothers, Robert Watson, Rudolph Watson, and Nathaniel Watson.
Fondly called Barbara, she attended the Montgomery County School System before relocating to High Point, NC with her family. She continued her education in the High Point Public School System. Barbara worked as a security guard for Guilford County until her health declined.
Barbara was a devoted mother to her three children, who were her pride and joy. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, who stole her heart. Barbara was also a faithful sister and an amazing aunt. Family was her prized possession. The loss of this mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend has left a void that can never be filled.
Those left to cherish precious memories are her three children, Aaron Watson, Shannon Watson, and Brittany Watson; eleven grandchildren, all of High Point, NC; two brothers, Freddie Watson and Frankie Watson; two sisters, Betty “Ann” Watson and Brenda Whitaker, all of High Point, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 22,2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
