When tomorrow begins, our beloved Patricia "Trish" Lena Ann Young Steed will not be amongst us. Born June 29, 1940 to the late Garland and Mary Bell Pike Young, exchanging time for eternity on November 20, 2020 at the home of her daughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Martin Steed, Sr. and son, Dennis Martin Steed, Jr.
She was educated in the public schools of Guilford County. Patricia wed Dennis Martin Steed, Sr. in 1956 to which they raised four children. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years at Royal Development Company.
Patricia was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Trinity, NC for over 60 years. There she served as a Deaconess, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Circle, Progressive Women’s Club, Church Custodian, and Kitchen Committee. With a love for Christ, she faithfully attended the Worship On Wednesday at St. Stephen Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, High Point, NC.
She enjoyed traveling, casinos, shopping, eating and chatting with her classmates from William Penn High School and friends. Being an avid reader of the newspapers, she enjoyed discussions on current events.
Left to cherish a legacy of love and fond memories are her daughters: Erica Steed (Rodney Matthews) of the home and Denise Steed (Dwight Foust) of Greensboro NC; son, Rodney Steed of Trinity, NC; two granddaughters who were the pearls of life, Chyna Jacobs of High Point, NC and Malashia Matthews of the home; a special brother, Arnold (Betty) Phillips; a nephew, Walter (Teresa) Gilmer; three sisters-in-law; special friend: Sarah Thompson; Kim Gordon who was like a daughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A private graveside service will be held Saturday November 28, 2020 at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mrs. Steed may be viewed on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Pat and I lived next to each other for years as children and young adults. Many years passed before we saw each other as adults, but when we did, we had fun catching up. Growing up in a community, where basically everyone was poor, meant we all and appreciated friendships. Old friends are hard to come by, so thank you Pat.

My cousin taking her flight to join her husband and her mom. She will truly be missed my me. Patricia Ann is the only family member that calls me Sadie Lynn. I was so blessed to talk to her the night before she passed. I all continue to keep her children uplifted in prayer. We were truly blessed to have such a loving person in our family.
