Mrs. Louise Sara Haywood, 83, of High Point, NC, peacefully departed this life on May 20, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1942, in Chester County.
She was the cherished eldest daughter of the late Inez and Hope Sanders. From an early age, she embodied the unshakable spirit of God first and then family. Love and support were constant for her younger siblings. After earning her college degree, she went on to do social work for the Department of Social Services in High Point, NC, for 30 years, until she retired. True to the day she was born, Sara Louise was a rare firecracker; Bold, beautiful, illuminating, and unstoppable. She will be truly missed!
For many years, Louise was a faithful member and served on Usher Board #2 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, NC. Her faith sustained and carried her through this life.
She will be received in heaven by her late husband, Robert βBobbyβ Haywood, with whom she shared fifty-five years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Bobby Sanders, Hope Sanders, Jr., Mary Frances Sanders and Shirlene Sanders, as well as her beloved companion, Bo and Winnie.
To cherish her loving memory, she leaves behind her sisters, Edna Sanders of New York; and Victoria Sanders of South Carolina; her brother, Arthur Sanders of South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Gary Haywood and Rickey Haywood (Julia) of High Point, NC; the siblings and family of her late husband Bobby, and a whole array of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family members and cherished friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Avenue. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Garden. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
