Obituary For Mrs. Willie Mae Ingram

Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson-Ingram, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, at the Hospice Home at High Point. She was born on February 7, 1937, in Richland, Georgia, to the late Willie Bee Johnson and Janie Mae Shipp Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fambo Ingram; her daughter, Theresa Ann Johnson; her son, Cecil Johnson; her bonus sister, Lula Mae Price; her grandson, Johnathan Johnson; and her three first cousins, Roberta Chadmon, Vanessa Grace, and Sarah Saunders, who raised her.

Willie Mae moved to High Point, NC, as a young lady and therefore attended William Penn High School. She met her two bonus sisters, Etta P. Brannon and Lula Mae Price. Together, they became like three peas in a pot or the three musketeers.

Willie Mae joined First Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. D.D. Mason and Rev. Lawrence Curtis and is currently under the leadership of Rev. Ray N. Campbell. She was a faithful member and served as President of Missionary #5 for several years. Willie Mae is known for her quiet demeanor and for coordinating her suits and hats every Sunday.

She worked at Myrtle Desk Company for a few years and later worked at the City of High Point for over 20 years, retiring in May 1994. She met some wonderful friends along the way, and they continued to stay in touch. Retirement did not slow her down; she went on to work for Dr. Mark and Linda Beck at their home for several years.

She was a southern Georgia girl who loved baseball, with the Atlanta Braves being her favorite team. In 1988, she met and married the love of her life, Fambo Ingram, and they were together until his passing in December 2001.

Willie Mae loved cooking and watching her favorite soap operas during the day. Shopping was another passion of hers, especially at her favorite department store, Macy's. In addition to these activities, she enjoyed listening to her favorite songs on her cell phone. Her preferred artists included the Canton Spirituals, Shirley Caesar, the Clark Sisters, and Charles Jenkins. As the matriarch of her family, she loved all her kids the same, and especially the newest member, her great-granddaughter, Nylah, whom everyone affectionately calls Nylah Belle because she is truly the ruler of the house.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her loving memory: five daughters, Sara Mingo of Winston Salem, NC; Davida Johnson of Greensboro, NC; Lavonda Kennedy of High Point, NC; Otelia Oliver (Greg) of Atlanta, GA; Malika Cunningham (Fresh) of High Point, NC; one son, William Johnson of the home; seven grandchildren, Cecil Jackson of Seattle, WA; Taurus Leach of High Point, NC; Dwight Johnson β€œDucky” of Winston Salem, NC; Courtney β€œmoney money” Graves of the home, Julian Kennedy and Faith Clark both of High Point, NC and Gia Oliver of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren, Javous Leach of High Point, NC; Samaria Pickenpack of Charlotte, NC; Nylah Bowser of the home; special daughter-in-law, who was like another daughter to her; Jackie Johnson of Jamestown, NC; two special bonus sisters, Shirley Price of Washington, DC; and Etta Brannon of Archdale, NC; three special first cousins, Pecolia Floyd of Decatur, GA; Anderson Shipp and Lamar Shipp of Brooklyn, NY; four special nieces, Pam Price, Tonya McQueen (Leroy), Theodora Price, Chrystal Brannon all of High Point, NC; two special nephews, Terry Price (Yvette) and Vincent Price both of High Point, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Send flowers to the service of Mrs. Willie Mae Ingram
