Mrs. Willie Mae Thomas Quick, 97, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, August 8, 2025. She was born on June 10, 1928, in Due West, South Carolina, to the late Jim and Leona McBride Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Quick. She was also preceded by six brothers: Samuel, Lonnie, Hugh, John, David, and Allen Thomas; and five sisters: Mary Francis Hill, Betty Lee Jones, Nina Mae Bacuem, Georgianna Settles, and Bertha Thomas.
Willie Mae retired from Wilco, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She was not only a devoted wife but also a cherished sister-in-law, sister, aunt, and true friend to many. Her caring nature and unwavering loyalty made her a confidant to those who knew her. Willie Mae was affectionately known as the "Hot Dog Lady," a title that reflected her vibrant personality and her love for bringing people together over delicious food.
She was a member of the Tabernacle of Prayer, Praise, and Worship, Inc. until her health began to decline. Her love for reading the Bible led her to find wisdom and strength, which she eagerly shared with others through uplifting words and encouragement. Always welcoming, she never met a stranger and approached everyone with warmth and kindness. With a generous spirit, she set aside moments each day to pray for the entire world, holding a deep compassion for those in need.
Willie Mae is survived by her grandniece, Carrie Ann Thomas Brown, and great-niece, Shamira, Kiera Brown, both of High Point, NC; her grandnephew, Bobby Ray Thomas (Wilma) of Greensboro, NC, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
