Catherine Delois Steed transitioned peacefully on August 3,2024 from a long battle with Alzheimer disease. She was born on July 8,1953 in High Point N.C. to the late Harold Franklin Steed and Blanche (Steele) Steed. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Doris Tyson, Deborah Steed and Leon Steed; two great nephews, Adonest Briscoe, Meshon Richard; two nephews, Lafayette Tyson, Troy Fisher, Johnny (Kaboobie) Steed, Jr. and one great-niece, Ebone’ Chavis.
Cathy was educated at Palmyra High School in N.J. In her younger years she briefly bartended at local bars in Beverly and Burlington N.J. She briefly studied at Burlington County College. She supported the Red Hat Society in N.J. and worked at the Burlington Masonic home for many years as well as volunteering at many nursing homes in N.J.
She worked 20+years for Ford Motors from which she retired.
Cathy cared for her mom until God took her home and was always available to help her family and friends in need and, she gave a roof and rides to family and friends who needed a hand.
Cathy loved to cook, especially for the holidays, she had a special recipe that turned a salty country ham turned into a honey baked ham, with pineapple and cherries on top, that would knock your socks off. If you knew her, you knew she would set you straight with that sharp tongue and then offer you some food or something to drink. And she was a sharp dresser, always had her hair done with her manicure and pedicure on point.
Those left to celebrate her are her son, Jason Steed of Willingboro N.J. and a special nephew, Steven Steed who lived with her most of his life. Harold Franklin Steed Jr., Johnny Steed both of High Point, NC; Michael (Orencia) Steed of Silver Spring, Md; Jeffrey Steed of Willingboro N.J., and Deidra Steed of Greensboro NC; sis-in-love Marilyn Ganges-Steed (Leon) of Baltimore Md., a host nephews, nieces, great-nephews, nieces, great-great nephews, nieces, Steele Family, Robinson Family and friends.
A celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
