Ms. Maria Ann Robertson, affectionately known by many nicknames she gave and received, entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 13, 1966, in High Point, NC, to her loving parents, Rev. Charles and Min. Dianne Robertson.
Maria was educated in the Guilford County School System and graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 1984. She later attended Brookstone College and found her calling in serving others through health care. For over 18 years, Maria dedicated her career as an in-home health care aide with Maxim Health Care, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care.
A faithful and lifelong member of Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church for over 50 years, Maria also served as a member of Hamlet Chapel C.M.E. Church for a season of her life. She shared her gift of song in the church, singing with the Young Harmonettes and in the Gospel Choir at Williams Memorial. Her singing spirit lifted many hearts, and her encouraging words gave strength to all who knew her.
Maria was known for her keen fashion sense, her ability to make every gathering the life of the party, and her talent for poetry, rapping, and even DJ-ing. She was the family’s beloved historian, faithfully preserving stories and memories, and she had a special way of giving everyone in the family a nickname. Her famous broccoli casserole will be remembered with love at every family table. Above all, Maria loved God deeply, lived a forgiving life, and left behind an example of faith, joy, and resilience.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted parents, Rev. Charles and Min. Dianne Robertson; her loving daughters, Christy and Courtney; and her precious grandchildren, Rev. Khalil, Kharmanni, Aaliyah, Khowie, Bray, Kali, King, and Zahmir. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings: Vanessa (William-Brother-In Law), Jacqueline, Toni (Ronald-Brother-In Law), Gwen, Marcus, and Brandon (Rhanita); and a host of nieces, nephews, and many she was proud to call her children, whom she embraced as her own. Maria was a loving aunt to many, a trusted confidant, and a joyful presence to all.
Her circle of love also includes her special friends: Elise Clay, Melissa McFarland, Cecil Macadoo, Lynne Pegues, and countless others who were blessed to walk through life with her.
Maria’s legacy of love, laughter, faith, and forgiveness will remain alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her. Truly, she lived out the prayer of Psalm 51:10 — a clean heart, a renewed spirit, and a life surrendered to God. Rest on “Brownsugar,” in Jesus name, Amen.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
