Rachel Marie Ross began her life on May 26, 1958, in Durham, NC, and departed this life on December 31, 2024, at The Greens of Cabarrus Nursing Facility in Concord, NC. She was born in Thomasville, NC, to her late mother, Geneva Ross.
In addition to her mother, Rachel was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Davis (WC “Butchie” Davis).
Rachel graduated from Thomasville Senior High School, class of 1976. She pursued her education at Davidson Community College, where she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. Most of her career was spent as a CNA at the Presbyterian Home of High Point. Known for her compassionate care and unwavering dedication, she spent years building meaningful relationships with her patients and their families. Afterward, she continued her commitment to nursing, working at various nursing care facilities until her retirement in 2021.
To friends and family, Rachel was known for her quick wit and outgoing personality. She never met a stranger and loved engaging in long conversations with anyone she encountered. Rachel enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, cooking, and spending quality time with her friends and family. Her life was a testament to resilience and warmth, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rachel leaves behind to cherish her memories: her son, Quinton Ross (Linda Ross) of Salisbury, NC; her daughter, Tora Ross; two grandchildren, Malik Bowman and Tyreek Jernigan of Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Josephine Ross Hunt of Shelby, NC; one uncle, Joseph Ross of Chicago, IL and a host of other relatives and friends.
We will truly miss her. We love you, Mama, and will cherish the happy times we shared forever!
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
