Ms. Trevillian Hazel Highter, better known as “Peaches”, was born on May 1, 1960, in Norfolk, VA, to Earl Highter and Jasquallian Gilliam. On September 30, 2026, Peaches departed this life in Kernersville, NC, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished.
Peaches was an exceptionally intelligent woman with a lifelong passion for learning. She graduated from High School early and continued to pursue higher education, eventually earning her Master’s degree in Computer Science from North Carolina A&T State University. Education was important to Peaches, and her accomplishments reflected her intelligence, determination and drive.
Professionally, Peaches built a diverse and accomplished career. She worked as a computer programmer and also worked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She later became a realtor, bringing the same intelligence and determination that characterized so many areas of her life into her work.
Peaches also believed in giving her time to others. She volunteered with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, where she spent time in the Exceptional Children classroom. Her willingness to serve and support children was another reflection of the many different ways she shared herself with those around her.
She was an only child to her mother but shared a family bond with her half-brother, Earl Highter Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Highter and her former husband, Anthony Jenkins.
Peaches leaves behind cherished memories for her loving mother, Jasquallian Gilliam; her three children, Jerome Highter, Crystal Hodge and Renee Jenkins; her thirteen grandchildren, Shaniya Highter, Chrishawn Hodge, Keloris “KeKe” Clayton, Amiah Sullivan, Caylani Highter, Chaquan Hodge, Caleah Hodge, Jayden Highter, Cawjuan Hodge, Cyrus Hodge, A’Siah Irby, A’Riah Irby and Londyn Highter. She also leaves behind a wide circle of family, friends and loved ones who will always hold her in their thoughts.
Peaches wasn’t the kind of grandmother who simply sat back and watched the younger generation have all the fun. She was right there with them. Whether she was learning the latest dance or trying to rap along to one of their songs like she was young, she knew how to make her grandchildren laugh. Those moments were full of laughter, fun, and love and are memories they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Peaches lived a life filled with learning, achievement, service, family and love. She was intelligent and accomplished, but a degree or job title could never fully describe her. To those closest to her, she was Ma, Grandma, GaGa, Peaches and someone who could teach you something one minute and have you laughing the next.
Her physical presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons she taught, the laughter she created, the love she gave and the memories she made will continue to live through her children, grandchildren and everyone blessed to have known and loved her.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
