Obituary For Ms.Bernice Mychelle Leak
Ms. Bernice M. Leak departed this life on March 2, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 20, 1975, the daughter of Rebecca Louise Leak and the late James E. Leak.
Bernice Leak completed her high school education at Southwest High School in High Point, North Carolina, where she developed a strong foundation for her future studies. She pursued her higher education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned her bachelor's degree. This achievement not only marked a significant milestone in her academic journey but also deepened her lifelong passion for education and teaching. With a commitment to nurturing the next generation, Bernice dedicated herself to working as a Pre-K Teacher Assistant at Generation ED in High Point, North Carolina, where she created a nurturing and engaging learning environment for her students.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jamys E Leak; her aunt, Margret Hall; and uncles, Jimmy Hall, James Hall Jr. (Sonny), and Charles Gyant.
She is survived by her fiancΓ© Terry Brown, her daughter, Donya Shelf (Ardshad Tomlin); her mother, Rebecca Leak; her nieces, Keyonna Pickenpack, and Jakenzie Pickenpack; her aunts, Gracie Gyant, Mary Hall, and Mary Lillie Leak; her uncles, Willie Hall (Bill) and Roosevelt βEliseβ Leak (Junebug), and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. unitl 3:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
