Obituary For Ruth Hayes
Ms. Ruth Allene Hayes, lovingly referred to as “Aunt Ruby,” was born to James R. Vereen and Willena D. Vereen on December 15, 1937 in Fairbluff, NC. Ruth entered into God’s eternal rest on December 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charlie Vereen, Mozella Dark, Louise Woodard, Thelma McCormick; stepchildren, Levon Hayes, Paul Hayes, Cynthia Hayes, and Christine Hayes.
Ruth attended the Columbus County School System. She was employed as a private duty CNA in New York City many years before retiring to High Point, NC. Raised under God’s teachings, Ruth committed to service with Second Canaan Baptist Church of New York City in 1984. After moving to High Point, NC, she esteemed fellowship and God’s love and Life Changing International Church, Inc.
Ruth was united in marriage to former husband Jasper Hayes, and to their union was born a daughter, Leslie Hayes.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Leslie Hayes of the home; stepchildren, Denise Hayes, Kenneth Hayes, and Carmela Boswell of Philadelphia, PA, and Jolvis Hayes of Detroit, MI; a sister, Magdalene Gilmer of High Point, NC; a brother-in-law, Charles McCormick of Rowland, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other beloved relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Life Changing International Church, 1217 E. Green Dr. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
