Alexander, Mr. Jimmie, "Coach" A resident of Montgomery, AL departed this life on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 1:00PM from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, (738 Gibbs Road, Pike Road, AL), Pastor Richard Griffin,Officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, (Highway 26), Lowndes County, AL.
Coach Alexander Will lie in state on Friday from 1-8PM from Phillips-Riley Funeral Home, and at the church one hour prior to services.
Jimmie Lee Alexander was born on December 5, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama. His parents were the late departed Mr. Johnnie M. and Mrs. Nellie L. Alexander.
In 1961, he graduated from Carver High School and matriculated at Alabama State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Thereafter, he earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Troy State University.
He pledged Kappa Alpha Psi. in 1973. Well-equipped for the classroom he started his career out in Linden, Alabama. His career continued in Clayton, Alabama and led him back to Montgomery where he retired from Houston Hills after 40 years in education. He was a teacher as well as an accomplished coach. He loved sports and he loved coaching even more. He was also an employee for the Montgomery County Commission for 33 years.
He confessed Christ at an early age. He was a member of Lily Baptist Church as a child but later became a member of Holt St. Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Mt. Meigs.
A new life in Christ began on October 4, 2022. Preceding him in death was a brother, Johnnie M. Alexander, Jr.
Loving and cherished memories remain with his wife Bettie N. Alexander; his only child, Jamia Alexander-Williams; his grandchildren, Jabari N. Alexander, Victoria A. Williams and Jade A. Williams; 3 brothers, Edward C. Alexander, Willie J. Alexander and Billy L. Alexander; 1 sister, Mary A. Alexander; 2 nieces, Tiffany, Alexis; 5 nephews, Reginald, LaCory, Michael, Michael, Immanuel; 3 Stepchildren, Tammy, Herman, Antwand, and other relatives and friends.. NOTICE: Please be mindful that the State of Alabama and the CDC have advised that we limit gatherings and that individuals who are ill and or are at-risk (e.g., elderly, immune-compromised) should be encouraged to stay home. Social Distancing Practices will be observed during the visitation and service.

I have actually known Coach Alexander for a long time. I cherished his friendship. May God continue to give you strength during this difficult time.
