JC THOMAS, age 68, a resident of Hope Hull, AL entered into eternal rest on March 13, 2023. Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Phillips Riley Funeral Home, 2284 W Fairview Ave, Montgomery, AL 36108, Rev. Tom Gardner III officiating. JC departed his earthly home on March 13, 2023.
JC graduated from the Calhoun High School, Class of 1973. He worked as a professional brick mason, instrumental in building numerous commercial and residential projects in the Montgomery area. Although he had offers to work in other areas of the country, he chose to remain in Lowndes County near his extended family. JC loved his family and their land, where he hunted and raised horses and cattle. JC was a cowboy, usually dressed in his cowboy hat and boots. He loved riding his horses, often riding in the Turkey Day Classic and Tuskegee Homecoming.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loleta Claibon Thomas; his son, Undra Carter; his parents, Alonzo, and Mary Ella Thomas; four sisters, Annie Mae and Hattie Thomas, Mary Bell Phelps, and Dorothy Mae Davis; and five brothers, Charlie, William Henry, Freddy Lee, Alonzo Jr., and Tom Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Undrea Carter of Detroit, MI; Eldred Thomas of Huntsville, AL; Eryca Thomas and Demetria Belser of Montgomery, AL; one step-daughter, Tiffany Kennedy of Montgomery, AL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Smith of Montgomery, AL, and McGrath Jean Thomas of Washington, DC; one brother, John Willie Thomas of Hope Hull, AL; four sisters-in-law, Sophie Smith Thomas of Hope Hull, AL; Jessie Thorn Thomas, Farris Bell, and Francina Carter of Montgomery, AL; one brother-in-law, Edward Claibon of Montgomery, AL; one aunt, Rosie Phillips Jackson of Hope Hull, AL; a devoted cousin, Alice Mae Jackson of Hope Hull, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. NOTICE: Please be mindful that the State of Alabama and the CDC have advised that we limit gatherings and that individuals who are ill and or are at-risk (e.g., elderly, immune-compromised) should be encouraged to stay home. Social Distancing Practices will be observed during the visitation and services
