JACKSON, Mr. Robert, “Bobby”, passed away on April 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Jackson was born during the depression on July 5, 1929 in Montgomery, AL to the late Minnie Gray and Bernard Jackson. He is the personification of love, unity, and togetherness. Robert exemplifies everything humanity needs in order to have peace. He believed in nonviolence and is considered a patriotic and very personable man. Robert was the first person to place black’s pictures in the State Archive and History Building. He organized the annual Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday Celebration in January. He recorded many songs in the late 50’s to early 60’s; featuring, “Hold Me’. He had a T.V. program on Channel 3 and a radio program every Sunday morning on WXVI Radio sation. He’s the founder of the World Heritage Museum located on W. Jeff Davis Ave. His heritage movement is designed to bring people together to exemplify unity. Robert’s survivors include his loving family: Jean, Doris, Vonometry and Jerome Burt; Grandson, Lanthony B. Perdum, Great Grandchildren, Tamia and DeShun L. Perdum, Great Great Grandchild, Kennedi Gordon; Sister, Dorothy (Anthony) Stevens, Dallas, TX; devoted nieces, cousins, nephews, aunts, friends and a special God Daughter, Dr. Renay Dixon. Due to COVID-19, a Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11:00AM from Greenwood Serenity Garden Cemetery, Dr. Calvin McTier, officiating. Social distancing and mask will be required for service. Public viewing will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Phillips-Riley Funeral Home from 12-6PM.
