Joseph Lane Kennedy Jr. of Irwin County passed away at Tift Regional Medical Center on August 12, 2026. He had been a resident of Irwin County. Born in Virginia Beach, VA. On March 24, 1947 to Sadie Elizabeth and Joseph Lane Kennedy Sr. He was a service member of the U.S Army and was honorably discharged after serving his term in Vietnam. He was a shipyard worker for most of his life, a painter, and worked for, "Rooms to Go" in shipping and receiving. He believed a mans responsibility is to work hard and take care of his family. He was an outdoorsman and would do yardwork for hours. He was someone we could talk to about anything and share our biggest secrets. He would tell you what he thought you needed to hear whether you liked it or not. He taught us about constructive criticism, love, and respect in only a way that he could. His legacy will live on through all those who know and loved him. He is survived by his sister Carolyn Diane Holland of Portsmouth, VA., and his three brothers Lloyd Eugene Kennedy of Gates, NC., Glenn Raymond Kennedy, and Richard Wayne Kennedy both from Chesapeake, VA. Also his first wife Deborah Jean Kennedy Quintero, and their daughters Tracey Lynn Peterson and Kimberly Ann Coggins. He had 4 Grandsons, Caleb M. Coggins, Bryson A. Coggins, Preston B. Coggins and Brantley J. D. Peterson and one Great Granddaughter, Azora A. Coggins. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, David Lee Kennedy and late wife Cynthia A. Ottinger Kennedy.
Send flowers to the service of Joseph Kennedy
We remember Junie most as young, vibrant and family loving. We often had family picnics when he lived in Va. with always a can full of people, most of them our cousins. We missed him very much when life moved him to GA. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Please know the Lang family is praying for Junie's salvation and will keep the family in prayer. Please know if there is anything we can do, we are willing. Much sympathy to all those that loved him. He will be missed and know he suffers no more. Love to you all. The Lang family (Aunt Zelda and cousins)
Our deepest condolences to you & the children that he left behind. We love y'all and prayers are being sent.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
