Homegoing of Abraham Perkins, God’s favorite son, who transitioned this earthly life on Saturday, April 11, 2626. Abraham was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ of Nazareth to receive his crowns, rewards, and eternal life.
Life and Legacy
Abraham was born 12 March 1956 in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was educated in Public Schools in Jacksonville, where he became a resident. He was baptized as a little boy, by Pastor Dr. Charles B. Dailey at First Baptist Church of Oakland in Jacksonville, Florida. Abraham also spent a short time in the United States Army.
Abraham was a kind, caring, honest man of GOD who truly loved the Lord, having being taught the bible by his mother since birth. He knew his bible and sang gospel songs, one of his favorites entitled “I’m Going Up on the Rough Side of the Mountain”, another “Jesus loves me.” He was known for always making people laugh, always speaking to people, and giving complements. A kind soul who would give you his last expecting nothing in return. He became unhoused at an early age after the passing away of his mother, feeling he had no one left in the city who cared about him. He became an advocate for many in the unhoused community. He went about helping everyone he could. He especially protected women and children from the harshness of the world. He directed them to clean food and shelter, and though he was not treated well in the community, he was a survivor.
Some miracles God performed in his life include how he had a speech impediment of profuse stuttering and was introduced to the world, cigarettes, and alcohol. When asked how he stopped all of this without any kind of human and medical assistance, he simply stated, “I went to God and He told me how to do it.” He never went back to that way of life. Abraham told the tear-jerking story of when one day during a hurricane he was intentionally locked out of the shelter and not allowed to enter. He huddled against the building with a blanket. He felt like just letting go and sliding into the water to drown, but the Lord told him to hold on and he did and survived.
Health
Not realizing who Abraham really was in Christ, he suffered ill treatment at the hands of both a pastor whom he trusted, and then at a local rehab facility, and after much prayer, before his passing away he received excellent loving treatment through Shands Hospital North, and at Haven Hospice. It was a God answered prayer because at last he was shown true Godly love and respect in the hands of these Godsent people before he transitioned from this earth. This was along with the precious prayers from Chaplain Billy who also read the bible to him, which he welcomed. Also, the Haven Hospice staff who often sat with him playing music and talking to him. They could see the kind soul he was.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." We share a comforting sincere word of God knowing that Abraham is at peace. Thank You Lord for allowing him to be in our lives for so very long. The laughter, prayers, and fun. Abraham was an excellent chef, his favorite dish being chicken. He had a love for all animals especially his cat Gracie, whom he rescued. Gracie was a scraggily skinny frail little cat, missing one leg. Abraham immediately took her under his wing to keep her from being discarded and named her Gracie. He said Gracie needed love and grace to live. No one was ever a stranger when they met Abraham. Our beloved brother, so loved, so missed, never forgotten.
Lord, welcome your servant Abraham into your everlasting arms. Grant him peace in your kingdom and comfort to those who mourn, Amen.
My Tree Planting I plant these 5 trees in remembrance of Abraham, my brother. They're alive and flourishing. They will live forever as he will with Christ. Abraham's laughter and smile could light up the darkest room. His sense of humor was infectious, and he always had a knack for making everyone around him smile. He was not just my brother but my closest friend. His love of life and love of the word of GOD, the joy he brought to my life, and the lives of others will never be forgotten. We'll miss his jokes, his warm hugs and that mischievous twinkle in his eye. I am not in mourning because I gave him his flowers and love while he lived on earth and I know where he now lives. I am happy that he's with His Lord and savior. I will never say goodbye, but farewell and I'll see you later. Go receive your crown and rewards and celebrate with Christ forevermore. Let us honor his memory by living life to the fullest, just as he did. Love forever.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
