MARTIN - Alvin L. Martin Jr. (Jr. Bull) was born February 20, 1961 to Alvin L. Martin, Sr. and Nola Jean Martin. He was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from Sandalwood High School. Alvin worked as a Head Cook for many years before hanging up his apron, but continued to cook his well-known dishes with wife, Tonya for family and friends.
Alvin was a faithful member of Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Male Usher Board and district #15 under the leadership of Deacon Calvin Wright until his health declined. Alvin loved his Pastor and church family.
Alvin enjoyed spending time with family, taking vacations, and going on cruises. He was a die-hard Raiders fan for over 40 years. He loved watching sports and playing video games with his grands and nephews.
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Alvin Martin, Jr. received his wings surrounded by family.
Alvin is preceded in death by his mother, Nola Jean Johnson, stepfather, Walter Johnson, Jr., stepmother, Rita Martin and brother, Andre Martin.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Tonya L. Martin; Children: Tina (Leonard) Bacon, Jason Hires, Darryl (Alnisa) Laster, Aldrena Martin, Chelaina Jarrell (Malachi) and Angel Martin (Daniel); Father: Alvin Martin Sr.; Mother in Law: Ruth Sheppard; Father in Law: Felton (Hazel) Moses; Siblings: Helen (Robert) Meadows, Gerald (Lisa) Reed, Leisa (Travis) Oliver, Felicia (Gerald) Brinson, Reggie Mann, Alshawn Martin, Antwan (Tere) Martin, Artecia Johnson, Antoinette Martin, Lacheryl (Garrick) Moore; Siblings in Law: Andrea Morgan and David Whigham; 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 1 great granddaughter on the way and a host of godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11AM at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, 10325 Interstate Center Drive. Mr. Martin's remains will rest for visitation of family and friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5-7PM at the CHURCH. Arrangements entrusted to the MIXON TOWN CHAPEL of Q. L. Douglas Funeral Home, 2403 Edison Avenue.
Everyday Chef Alvin put his heart and immense talent into serving our frail elderly.He never failed to cook the most delicious meals, always so dedicated to our frail and elderly clients Alvin was the kindest person to everyone, patient and caring.He made the Social Center a warm loving place with his delicious homemade biscuits. He was a true gentleman who loved everyone and everyone loved him. Heaven is blessed to have Chef, he was more than a cook Alvin to cook some of his delicious meals I know his family will miss him terribly.He was a dear, special deeply loving man.
