I am sadden to hear of the passing of Smitty as he was known by his Navy shipmates. I have never known a person more kind and generous than him. As a Navy Chief Petty Officer he could be counted on to put the well-being of those in his responsibility ahead of his own. I am certain that his smile will be welcomed in heaven. He was a good.
