Robert Leroy Grissett, Sr. was born Sunday, January 31, 1954, in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. Grissett attended local schools, graduating from New Stanton Senior High School in 1971 where he was on both the track and football teams. Upon finishing high school, he applied and was accepted to the University of Florida in Gainesville at a time when black students were few and far between. While in Gainesville Robert studied landscape architecture and made a life-changing decision to pledge the charter line of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omicron Zeta undergraduate chapter. This decision would lead to a lifetime of service and brotherhood demonstrating the ideals of his beloved Omega Psi Fraternity; ultimately influencing many young men and family members, including his namesake to follow in his footsteps. Robert was a charismatic gifted salesperson, manager, administrator and entrepreneur logging thousands of miles driving all over the United States to close deals—big and small. Robert began his sales career with W.W. Kellogg Company, and over the years achieved higher-ranking sales, district, and region manager positions with corporations like BellSouth Advertising Yellow Pages, Emergency Networks, Inc., Scott Alarm Systems, Consolidated Mortgage, The Talking Phone Book, and Yellow Book USA.
