Daniel “Papa Bear” Edward Barnes (1960-2026)
The world became a little less bright on February 2, 2026, with the passing of Daniel “Danny” Edward Barnes. Born on November 11, 1960 in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, Papa Bears infectious laugh and quick wit brought joy to everyone around him.
Daniel was the ultimate girl dad to Shannon, JeLisa, and Emerald, a loving husband to Mattie and a protective big brother to equally hilarious siblings. Papa Bear was also a loyal friend to many.
Whether he was telling jokes, teaching his baby girls about 70’s music or making sure he took his kids to every first day of school, Daniel made every moment unforgettable.
A memorial service celebrating Daniel’s life will take place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bonaire, Georgia on February 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

In Loving Memory of Daniel Barnes
Daniel Barnes lived his love out loud,
Not in grand speeches, but in daily acts—
A hand held longer, a promise kept,
A presence that made life feel safe.
To his wife, he was devotion made real,
A partner who chose love every day,
Strong enough to carry burdens together,
Gentle enough to listen without judgment.
To his children, he was a hero at home—
Teacher, protector, laughter in the room.
He showed them how to be brave and kind,
By being both, without ever trying.
As a big brother, Daniel led with heart,
A guide, a shield, a steady light.
He made room for others to rise,
Never ahead—always beside.
And to his friends, he was loyalty itself,
The one you could call, the one who stayed.
A listener, a jokester, a constant soul,
Who made this world feel more connected.
Though his time here feels far too short,
Daniel’s love did not leave with him.
It lives on in every life he touched,
In every lesson, laugh, and memory.
He was a great husband.
An awesome father.
A fantastic big brother.
A wonderful friend.
And he will always be loved.

I will always remember you all taking the girls, to eat after the assembly. And you gave Daija and Diamond a kids menu and they you they don't order from the kids menu. They were probably 7 and 5 years old. They ordered from the menu and you said they ate all of their food. I would never forget that.🥰Just a little while longer, I will see you in paradise when you hear Jesus, voice and wake up not remembering your pain and sickness.
Danny, Not sure how my life is going to be now. You are the one that I turned to for advice, a good laugh and old memories. I love you so much and I miss you 😔, nothings can soothe this heartache. A void is truly missing from my life 💔. I love you big brother 🙏❤️
Daddy I love you and miss you so much. I feel lost without you. You are an amazing daddy and best friend. You were always patient with me and understanding. You loved me wholeheartedly and you never left my side through every painful moment in my life. I'll never forget your smile, the one that I share with you. I'll never forget your kindness, laughter, jokes and the way you were able to put me to sleep by just holding my hand. You comforted me and kept me strong. I am not okay. I love you. I can't wait to see you again. Thank you for holding my hand until the end. Best friends for eternity.
Love,
Your baby girl Emmy
