Celebrating the Life of William Sylvester Proctor
William passed peacefully at his residence in Suitland, MD on Thursday, February 8, 2024, with his loving wife (Alda Proctor) by his side. William was born February 23, 1947, at Gallinger Hospital (DC General Hospital). He was the first born of two children of his predeceased parents and grandmother Alice Proctor who raised, loved, and admired him. William was raised in Washington, DC. He attended Washington DC Public Schools. He was employed with C&P Telephone Company for a few years then moved onto the Washington Post Newspaper where he retired. After graduating High School, he married Diane and out of this union they had two children Antonio (Tony) Proctor and Martina (Tina) Proctor. He was a professional body builder and personal trainer for several years. He competed in several body building competitions and as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym. He was baptized at an early age and later joined From the Heart Church Ministries where he served as a spiritual warrior in the church and his community. He always had a good spiritual word to share with his family, friends, and neighbors. William was married to his loving wife Alda Proctor for over 20 years. They shared many happy years together. He took the responsibility of her primary caretaker when she came down with her illness. William was truly an amazing man with a big personality that shined brightly wherever he would go. He often opened his heart to anyone that needed a hand. Despite his own and wife’s personal health challenges, William found a way to be there for everyone. William leaves to mourn his loving wife Alda, his son (Tony), his daughter (Tina) and granddaughter, his sister (Charlene), and a host of relatives and friends left to mourn the passing of this amazing man.
