Clifford Jerome Baxter was born April 23, 1957 to his late parents Arthur and Willie Mae Baxter. He is preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife Betty Anderson Baxter, four brothers Larry Baxter, Samuel Lee Crowder, Robert Lee Crowder and Roosevelt Baxter. Clifford was educated in the Montgomery County School System and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1975. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country briefly.
Clifford loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved simple things like cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Yes, we all knew where to look for him at his favorite hangout, Chase Street. Clifford drew people in with his bright smile and loving personality, which is evident by his many longtime friends. He was always smiling and when you left him, no matter how you felt before, you felt better after that smile as some joke lifted your spirit. We will miss him greatly but cherish and hold dear times shared and memories created.
Clifford leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Latasha Peterson, sons, Clifford Peterson, and Antonio Peterson; his step-daughter Kayla “LuLu” Anderson, step-sons Frederick Anderson, Alonzo Anderson and Ronald Anderson. Treasured memories are forever in the hearts of his four loving sisters Grace Brown, Montgomery AL, Elvester Harris, South Bend IN, Gladys Davis, East Orange, NJ, Donna Crowder, Montgomery AL; two brothers, Arnather (Bernice) Baxter, Montgomery AL and Tommie Baxter, Queens NY. Remembering him are his grandchildren Aliyah Peterson, Olivia Peterson, ReNaysia Rieves, KeVontae Peterson, Marquis Peterson and TeVoris Peterson; his bonus grandsons, DaTony Anderson, Adrian Bank, and Frederick Ligon; his bonus niece Hope Billups. Two aunts, Minnie Crowder, Queens NY and Tina Crowder, Trenton NJ; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ross-Clayton Funeral Home. FACE MASK REQUIRED. Burial will follow in Piney Grove #1, Mathews, AL.

Clif we have been friends for as long as l can remember, we were bare footed kids in Pike Road, Al we were poor and didn't have very much but the strangest thing was we had so much love and happiness toward one another we didn't know it we (the Walton, Callie, Mark, Frances, Willie lue, Carl , Jerry and so many more) would walk up and down Old Pike Road running and playing and what a joyful time we would have, then everyone would start to move away but we always kept that Pike Road bound even if we didn't see each others for months and years at a time. l love you ole Clif take your rest I'll see you in the morning.
