I enjoyed working under Howard during my senior year at Bama State. He managed the receiving department, and I worked there as part of my work-study program. I could not have asked for a nicer boss. He always treated everyone with kindness and respect.
Grandad, words cannot even begin to express how much I love you or how much you meant to me. I feel a hole in my heart now that you're gone. Thank you for being my father figure for 36 years. I thank you for your wisdom and love. Thank you for believing in me and listening to me. I'll never get the chance to hear your voice again but it's locked in my memory. I could go on and on but the bottom line is my heart is with you and I love you so much. No more suffering
My sincere condolences
I will miss Howard, and his family has my deep sympathy on his loss. I knew Howard because we played together on a YMCA city league basketball team in the 1980s. In later years I would see him at various events around town. Howard was a big man on the court, and he was a gentleman both on and off the court. He was always a pleasure to be around and to talk with. You hear the expression that "they don't make 'em like that anymore," and in Howard's case that may be true. The exception will be in his children and grandchildren, who will inherit his spirit and live up to his example. -- Randall Williams
