Mrs. Leola M. Broadnax, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed May 28, 2026. Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Mitylene Baptist Church. Interment Services will follow in Brassell Historical Cemetery 734 Charlie Brassell Place Montgomery, AL 36117.

Leola Mitchell Broadnax, age 93, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on May 28, 2026. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Willie James and Cleopatra Brassell Mitchell.
She attended and graduated from George Washington High School in Mt. Meigs/Pike Road, AL, proceeded to Alabama State University where she was a majorette, and received both a B.S. Education degree in 1956 and the M.Ed. in Secondary Education degree in 1965. She continued her journey to become as an educator working as an elementary school teacher for a combined total of 32 years in Fort Payne, AL; Rome, Georgia, and over 20 years was served overseas with the Nurnberg, Germany DODDS School System, retiring in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband – Joseph C. Broadnax, Sr. of almost 50 years, infant son Joseph, Jr. and all siblings except one remaining sister (Mary M. Grant).

Funeral/Memorial Service:
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00am at the Mitylene Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6650 Wares Ferry Road, Montgomery, AL.
The family will receive guests prior to the service, starting at 10 am. Interment will be Brassell Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.
