Ms. Earlene Thomas, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed November 28, 2025. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 13, 2025, from Ross-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Earlene Dixon Thomas, a centenarian, was born in Eclectic, Elmore County, Alabama, later
moving to Montgomery County, Alabama where she was a resident since early childhood.
Earlene Dixon Thomas, the remaining member of ten children, was born on June 22, 1925,
to the late Je, Sr. and Cassie Bell Dixon. She received Christ at an early age, attended
Pleasant Hill AME Zion and Friendship Baptist Church in Ada, Alabama, and later united
with White Cloud Baptist Church, Ramer, Alabama. She was preceded in death by siblings
Ellaree Teague, Herman C. Dixon, Tim Dixon, Elsie Means, Claude C. Dixon, Vera Jackson,
Velma Johnson, Je Dixon, Jr., Elvis Dixon, and Catherine Rudolph.
She was actively involved in church and civic organizations, including the White Cloud
Baptist Church Senior Choir, Home League, Farmer’s Helping Hand Society, and the Order
of the Eastern Star.
She was the proud mother of twelve children, born from her union with Robert Lee Thomas,
Sr. (deceased), Eugene Thomas, Jessie Thomas (deceased), Dorothy T. Lawson Whelchel,
James (Sharon) Thomas, Barbara T. Edwards, Bettye Jo (Rev./Dr. Nathaniel) Bracy, Robert
Lee (Betty) Thomas, Jr., Larry (Glenda) Thomas, Mozelle T. Fortson, Jerry L. (Youlanda)
Thomas, Sr., Elvis D. (Renee) Thomas, and Jacqueline D. (Brian) Milledge. She was mother,
aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, spanning across seven generations, cousin,
mother-in-law; and an inspiration for extended family, and neighbors.
Through a century of change and progress, she was a steady source of wisdom, resilience,
and compassion. Her unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community shaped the
lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
