Ms. LoeVetter Hearns Jackson, a resident of Acworth, GA, passed September 12, 2025. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from Resurrection Catholic Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at 1:30 P.M.
Mrs. LoeVetter (Hearns) Jackson was born to the late Floyd and Angilee (Streeter) Hearns Sr. on August 1, 1935, in Bessemer, AL. LoeVetter was preceded in death by husband (Clyde) Jackson Jr. and son (Darryl) Jackson, brothers Floyd Hearns Jr., Claude Hearns, sisters Vera Smith and Annie Lois Bell and nephew raised as brother Lorenzo Boden.
LoeVetter was born the 5th child of Floyd Sr. and Angilee Streeter Hearns. As a youth and young adult, she attended Petty’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Bessemer, AL where she was a choir member. She attended Jefferson County schools and graduated from Brighton High School in Brighton, AL.
LoeVetter received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Miles College and Master’s Degree in Education from Alabama State University. She also had further studies at the University of California Berkeley. At the urging of her sister, she became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
As an Educator. LoeVetter taught in the Meridian, MS Public School district for 3 years, in Jefferson County, AL Public School district for 2 years, and in the Montgomery, AL Public School district for 25 years, including Lee High School, Bellingrath Elementary, Dozier Elementary and Dalraida Elementary. She was also the Librarian at Resurrection Catholic School for several years after retirement from the Montgomery Board of Education.
A Union Made in Heaven. LoeVetter met Clyde Jackson Jr. the summer of 1958 and married March 6th, 1959. They both joined Resurrection Catholic Church where LoeVetter was a faithful choir member and was the President of the Ladies Sodality of Christian Fellowship in 1993. LoeVetter loved her family dearly and cherished moments together with them. LoeVetter enjoyed singing, sewing, creating pottery and ceramics, traveling and in the early 1980’s she was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant.
LoeVetter lived a life that was meaningful and never lost trust in God. LoeVetter went home to be with the Lord and departed this life on her husband’s birthday, September 13, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory two loving sons, Deland (Melanie) Jackson and D. Clyde (Leslie) Jackson; Brother-in-law the Honorable Reverend James Jackson; nine grandchildren: DaRhonda Jackson, Patria Jackson, Deidre Jackson, Josie Jackson, Jared Jackson, Aurial (Brian) Mckine, Ohaegi Childs, Jaylon Childs and Aaliyah Jackson, eight great-grandchildren: Amaya, Rylee and Trinity Smith (Patricia), Rylee and Ryann Mckine (Aurial), Kennedy Cox (Josie), Zion and Zoee Jackson (Jared), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Special Thanks and Accolades to: Melanie Jackson who although she was a daughter-in-law, she loved mom like no other and became the daughter that mom always wished that she could have had; Aunt Elizabeth Jackson (deceased) and niece Hazel Harris who assisted dad with mom in those areas which needed a lady's touch while dad was still with us and granddaughter Patria Jackson who often checked in on mom to make sure she was ok and from time to time would stop her busy life at the drop of a dime to come hours away to see how she could help assist with mom's care.
