Obituary For Barry Wilhite, Sr.

Barry Renard Wilhite Sr. was born on August 20, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Don and Melvia Wilhite. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Wilhite, and his brother, Donald Wilhite.

Barry was a baptized member of Greater Imani Church, The Cathedral of Faith, in Memphis, TN. On August 31, 1996, Barry was united in holy matrimony to Lakita R. Wilhite. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to four sons, including one from their union. Barry will be remembered for his vibrant personality, unwavering loyalty as a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and his love for grilling and spending time with family and friends. He dedicated 35 years of service to Mid South Dental Center and also enjoyed working alongside his brothers at Wilhite Dental Lab on his days off.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Mrs. Lakita R. Wilhite; four sons, Barry Wilhite Jr., Cameron Wilhite, Joshua Tinnon, and Jalen Wilhite; his loving mother, Melvia Wilhite; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Tinnon; one sister, Delois Pearson; four brothers, Edward (Denise) Wilhite of Eads, TN, Michael Wilhite, Eric Wilhite, and Randy Wilhite; Jacqueline Wilhite sis-n-law of Memphis, TN; one aunt, Annie Fields-Johnson; and his cherished grandson, Braylon Wilhite — all of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Barry’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 3, 2025 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at RS Lewis & Sons Funeral Home 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2024 11:00am Central Area of Church of Christ 3856 S Mendenhall Rd, Memphis, TN 38115
