Born April 22, 1948, Deacon Carlton Louis Addison was the second son of the late Reverend Benjamin F. Addison and Naomi Addison. On May 13, 2021, he was called Home to be with the Lord.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Deacon Addison graduated from New Stanton High School, Miami Dade Jr. College and Memphis State University where he received degrees in Electrical Engineering. Deacon Addison was employed by Norfolk Southern Corporation for nearly 40 years. He served with great distinction as a Senior Executive General Foreman in the Mechanical Division of Norfolk Southern Railway. He was the first Black Management Trainee hired by the then Southern Railway upon graduating with an Electrical Engineering Degree from Memphis State University.
Deacon Addison was a Charter Member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church founded by his late father. Faithfully, he served as a dedicated member, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Trustee. He and his wife Beverley Perkins Addison, who served as a Deaconness in the church, were faithful members. He remained active with the members of his graduating high school class.
His favorite gospel song is "His Eye is on the Sparrow". His favorite hymn is "What A Friend We have in Jesus". His favorite Bible verse is Roman 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Deacon Addison was married to Evangelist Missionary Beverley Perkins Addison and they have been together for nearly 52 years. They are the parents of three children, James Godwin, Angela Addison French and the Honorable Carlyn (Michael Boyer) Addison. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Ariana French, Ariele French, Carmichael Boyer, Avery Addison and who have been taught, by his example, to live Christian lives. He leaves behind three siblings, Benjamin F (Bethany) Addison, Marvin Addison Michael Addison and a doting Mother that he unselfishly, graciously, faithfully cared for daily.
