Charlie C. Brooks was born on June 26, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Albert and Luerean Brooks. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, and joined the United States Army immediately following high school graduation. Charlie married Lora in 1982, and together they had three children, Fredrick, Tiffany, and Charlie Jr.
Charlie served twenty-six years in the U.S. Army and ten years in civil service. He loved his family, the Dallas Cowboys, and the casino. He was never afraid to speak his mind, no matter how it came out or how it sounded, everybody knew it was said with love. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees. He was also proud to be a 33rd Degree Masonic member.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Lora; two sons, Fredrick (Laciania) of Live Oak, Florida, and Charlie Jr. of Harvest, Alabama; one daughter, Tiffany of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters, Alfreda Cunningham and Linda Brooks, both of Memphis, Tennessee; four brothers, Willie Brooks (Belinda) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Edward Brooks (Debra) of Memphis, Tennessee, Donald Brooks (Gail) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Greg Brooks of Memphis Tennessee; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Luerean Brooks; two brothers, Otis Brooks and Percy Smith; and one sister, Bobbi Benner. We all will cherish his memory forever.
The family will receive friends for a visitation Thursday, September 25, 202 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons 374 Vance Ave, Memphis, TN 38126. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00am at Mt Nebo Baptist Church 555 Vance Ave, Memphis, TN 38126.
Internment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125
