Clarence William Somerville was born January 7th 1928 in Memphis, Tn. Clarence “Shorty,
Knuck, Bae Brother and Moo was the son of Francis and James Somerville. He was the baby brother to Olivia and James who were all raised on Mississippi and Wellington . Right down the street from Mt Vernon Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the early age of 10 at Mt Vernon ,where is Father serve as one of the first Trustees. He attended Booker T Washington High School and while there he was a pretty good football player. He graduated in 1946 and he and his brother joined the Navy and served on the USS Oregon. He returned to Memphis after service and Attended Lemoyne Owen College. There he was a proud team member of the Mad Magician Football Team.
In 1952 he the love of his life Jean Evelyn Jones on her way to choir rehearsal. Later that year they married November the 8th. Together they built a family Barry, Donna and Terri. All while working as a Mail Handler, Clerk, Special Assignment Mail (Delivering mail by Train) and Retired as a Supervisor at the Memphis Buck Mail Center. He and his family lived for many years in the holiday Heights Sub division. Where they entertained friends and family for many years. He enjoyed life to the fullest Fishing ,hunting with family members, and playing Golf with old buddies (Ed Lewis and Jimmy Fields) at Pine Hill Golf Course, and simply loved to Joke and Laugh. Clarence was a good man, A great Husband of 73 years, Exceptional Father, Playful Grandfather and reliable Uncle.
On January 21st 2026 after 98 years and 2 weeks he was welcomed home to be with the Father. He will be sorely missed and remembered by His loving wife Jean,his children Barry( Barbara),Donna(Keith) and Terri(Cedric).Granchildren Melanie, Barry, (Janae), Marquisha(Howard),Keith Jr, Jazmin , Ciara. Great Grands Cameron, Precious, Gianna, Keylah, Kayla and Keith III, Ava and Sydney. Special sister Jeraldine Bobo. And a host of nieces, nephews, and a countless number of God children, adopted children and grand children whom he loved dearly.

The family has scheduled a visitation for Friday February 6, 2026 from 10am until 12pm service of celebration time at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Westwood 620 Parkrose Rd. Interment to follow at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
