Mr. Connell Richmond, a gentle soul, was born March 15, 1935, in Byhalia, Mississippi to the late Mr. Robert and Mrs. Alean Richmond. On October 13, 1956, he married his loving wife Willie Ella Richmond in Memphis, TN and added to this union were four children. On November 15, 2022 Mr. Connell departed this life surrounded by family. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, attending St. Matthew Baptist Church in Byhalia, MS. After moving to Memphis, TN in 1956, he continued his walk with Christ at the Beulahland C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of the late Superintendent, Jasper D. Porter. Later, under the leadership of the late Elder Robert L. Suell; the church was renamed Divine Temple C.O.G.I.C. In 2006, Superintendent Michael E. Lowe became pastor. Deacon Connell Richmond was serious about the church's well-being. He served as a Sunday school teacher, President of the Men’s Department, an Usher, and a member of the Trustee Board. Deacon Richmond remained faithful to his church until his health failed. Mr. Connell Richmond retired from Bryce Paper Co. (later named Rexham Corp) after being employed for over forty years. In addition to Rexham Corp, he was employed at the Commercial Appeal as a part-time truck driver for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Although he planned to relax, he began cutting yards to keep active. Later, he decided to return to work and worked part-time for WREG Channel 3 until his health began to fail. Mr. Connell Richmond played a vital role in the development of his children’s lives, promoting the importance of fatherhood; by providing discipline, encouragement, and comfort. He instilled the value of honesty, responsibility, strength, and living a Christian Life in each of his children. Mr. Connell Richmond was a person of humor and loved to have a good time.
