Earnest Edward Garner was born on January 18, 1952, to the late King and Christine Garner in Memphis, Tennessee. He was their youngest child, which included a family of four older sisters and one brother. His brother King Jr always asked for a baby brother and Earnest was his special gift. He was raised in a kind, loving household surrounded by joy, happiness, and numerous family gatherings.
He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at Bethel Presbyterian Church. He loved to read the bible and engage in debates and discussions about Christian theology.
Earnest graduated from Hamilton High School in 1970 and later joined the US Army.
He married Betty Ann Mathews and enjoyed married life until her sudden death in 1999. He married again in 2009 to Angela Barton
He departed this life on October 28, 2025, at St Francis Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, King and Christine Garner, his brother King Garner Jr, his sister Bettie Echols. Earnest is survived by his sisters Dorothy Jones, Earnestine Latham (Lonnie) and Nita McClelland (John) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside is scheduled for 2pm November 5, 2025 at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd.
