Etta Marie Walker-Booker was born December 23, 1940, as the seventh of nine children to the late Ernest and Beauty Walker in Rossville, Tennessee.
Her husband, John Booker, and siblings, Laura Walker, Eugene Walker, J.D. Walker, Clyde Beecher, Jasper Walker, Mary Robertson, Clara Peters and Virginia McKinney, preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ at the age of eleven at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Rossville, Tennessee, under the leadership of Rev. T.C. Anderson. In 1960, she joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Floyd White where she sang in the choir.
She attended Hodges Elementary, Collierville Elementary and Ford Road Elementary as a child. She then attended Geeter High School where she graduated and received her diploma in 1960.
She retired as a caregiver in 2005. She loved her family. Her son and grandchildren gathered at her home for holidays and on Sundays. She had an open heart for her family and friends.
Etta leaves to cherish her precious memories and life: her children - her one and only son, Mervin (Linda) Walker, Daryl Booker, and Steve Booker; four grandchildren, Tiera Walker, Margaret Walker, Alicia Harris, and Donte (Jasmine) Burgess; three great-grandchildren, Treyveon Burnett, Jeremy Walker and Jocelyn Shirley; one brother-in-law, James McKinney Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Walker and Charlie Mae Walker; one uncle, W.C. Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She also leaves behind two godchildren, Preties (Becky) McIntyre and Sherry McIntyre.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 21, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 11:00am bothh will be held at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 793 W Pebbles Rd, Memphis, TN 38109.
Internment will be in New Park Cemetery 4536 Horn Lake Rd, Memphis, TN 38109
