Floyd West Jr. was born on April 2, 1945, to the late James Henry and MaryBell Ellette West in Ripley, Tennessee. Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife, Missionary Bettye West; three brothers, Reverend William Henry Douglas, Andrew West and Ernest West; and two sisters, Bonnie Faye West Jackson and Dorothy Darnell.
Floyd confessed his life in Christ at an early age and joined Golden Rule Baptist Church (now Golden Rule Christian Church) where he served wearing many hats but was a faithful and loyal Deacon until his death.
Floyd attended school in Lauderdale County, Tennessee. He retired as an employee of Memphis City Schools and R.S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home.
Floyd was united in holy matrimony to the late Missionary Bettye Jean Jones on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1989. The union lasted until his beautiful wife’s untimely death on November 25, 2009.
Floyd leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Myranda Jean West of Ripley/Dyersburg, Tennessee; two bonus daughters, Rosalind Brown (Ramah) and Lindsay Fuller (Marzell); granddaughter, Briana Brown; three grandsons, Markevious Fuller, Markerian Fuller and Markeilen Fuller; sister, Mattie Terry (Sonny); niece, Kelly Terry; nephews, Vincent Terry, James Terry (Shannon) and Brian Terry, all of Evansville, Indiana; a brother, James Rucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 11:00am at Golden Rule Christian Church 3706 Clearbrook, Memphis, TN 38118
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, 824 S Dudley St, Memphis, TN 38104
