Gertrude Fifer Jamison, affectionately known to many as “Trudy,” was born May 2, 1949 in Shelby County, Tennessee to the late Leroy, Sr. and Ruby Fifer. On November 16, 2024 after a valiant battle with illness, her life came to a close at Methodist University Hospital.
Early in life, Gertrude accepted Christ and was baptized at Union Valley Baptist Church under Pastor H. O. Kneeland, Jr. We rejoice in knowing on February 19, 2023 she rededicated her life and joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church - Westwood under the leadership of her nephew, Rev. Melvin Watkins, Jr.
Gertrude received her high school diploma from Hamilton High School (‘67) in Memphis, Tennessee and went on to attend LeMoyne Owen College. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by AT&T in 1969 as a customer service phone operator where she served there for 24 years until her retirement. Anyone who knew Gertrude knew she was quite loquacious, she loved chatting and catching up with her girlfriends over the telephone. Most of all, she loved spoiling her sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy, Sr. and Ruby; also one brother, Anthony. Cherishing her memories are her sons, Corey and Courtney Jamison; one sister, Juanita Smith; and one brother, Leroy, Jr., all of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of faithful loved ones and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00am- 10:55am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00am both will be held at Mt Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood 620 Parkrose Memphis, TN 38109.
Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd Memphis, TN 38106

Good Morning:
Knowing Trudy and her family brings back loving memories.
She loved to entertain and most of the kids in our neighborhood learned how to dance in her backyard.
Her intellect and character were shown in the neighborhood and also at Magnolia E.S. and Hamilton H.S.
What a smile!
We will keep the family in our prayers.
Shalom.
