Obituary For Hooshang Akbari

In Loving Memory of Hooshang Akbari August 23, 1953 - October 7, 2026 With hearts full of love, gratitude, and profound sadness, the Akbari family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Hooshang Akbari, who departed this life on October 7, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on August 23, 1953, in Tehran, Iran, Hooshang was the youngest of his siblings. He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Tehran before embarking on a journey that would forever change his life. In 1977, he traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, to pursue a master's degree in Economics at Memphis State University, now the University of Memphis. Little did he know that Memphis would become his home, and that the greatest chapter of his life was just beginning. It was at a disco called The Place that Hooshang met the love of his life, Lisa Macklin. Their love story was one for the ages. On September 21, 1981, the two eloped, choosing to invest the money they would have spent on a wedding into building a future together. That investment became their first hair salon, The Hair Kutt Plus, and marked the beginning of a lifetime of love, partnership, entrepreneurship, and shared dreams. On April 14, 1984, Hooshang and Lisa welcomed twin daughters, Raumesh and Raumina Akbari, who became the center of their world. Years later, his beloved granddaughter, Ava Vashti Akbari, brought another immeasurable source of joy and pride into his life. Above all else, Hooshang was a family man. He loved his family with every fiber of his being, down to the deepest parts of his soul. His love was unconditional, unwavering, and unmistakable. He was never shy about showing affection, offering a hug or a kiss, sharing a laugh, or giving advice-whether it was requested or not. He loved a good political debate, a perfectly timed (or wonderfully corny) dad joke, a delicious meal, and a vacation to the beach. He loved being surrounded by the people he cherished most. Whether he was talking politics, telling stories, sharing his wisdom, or simply enjoying time together, Hooshang had a way of making his presence felt and his love known. He was a man of strong opinions, a generous heart, a sharp mind, and an even greater capacity for love. He believed in family, hard work, and making the most of the life he had been given. His greatest pride was not found in what he owned or accomplished, but in the family he loved and the life they built together. Hooshang faced his final battle with extraordinary courage and determination. He fought bravely, surrounded by the unwavering love of his family, who stood beside him every step of the way. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family takes comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is resting peacefully in Heaven, reunited with beloved family members and friends who went before him. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his devoted wife and the love of his life, Lisa Akbari; his beloved twin daughters, Raumesh and Raumina Akbari; and his precious granddaughter, Ava Vashti Akbari. He is also survived by his cherished Akbari family in Nashville, Canada, and Iran; his beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends who became family along the way. To know Hooshang was to know a man who loved deeply, laughed freely, and gave so much of himself to the people he held dear. His voice, his wisdom, his humor, his hugs, his kisses, and yes, even his unsolicited advice, will be missed beyond measure. His family considers it one of life's greatest blessings to have been loved by him. He was, and will forever remain, the absolute love of their lives. A life beautifully lived. A love that will never end. A legacy that will live on forever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lymphoma Research foundation in honor of Hooshang's courageous fight and in support of continued cancer research. During this difficult time, the family kindly asks for privacy as they grieve and honor their beloved patriarch. In the coming months, the family will share details regarding opportunities to visit, reflect, and honor his memory. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, and asks that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this tremendous loss.
