In the beginning, God created heaven and earth…[26]. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…[31]. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. On the 30th day of August 2001, at 6:52 p.m. Jasira Etana Scott entered the world.
Jasira accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 10 years old and was baptized at Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on March 13, 2011 by Pastor Robert E. Jones. As a youth, she enjoyed attending church services on Sundays and spent her summers attending Vacation Bible School, youth camps and the Collierville Community Center. Jasira graduated from Collierville High School in 2019 where she dedicated time tutoring elementary students in reading. She attended Austin Peay University from 2019-2021 with plans to return to college for fall 2023 as a sophomore.
Jasira’s favorite pastimes included traveling, reading, sketching, and hanging out with cousins and friends. The family’s vacation spots included amusement parks, cruises and national landmarks. Family and friends would laugh for hours while in Jasira’s presence. She would find humor in any situation, especially when she was in the midst of it. Jasira liked sharing adventurous stories like: when she and her mom decided to spray a wasp nest; Jaiteh causing her to walk into a closed door; and post rollercoaster rides with family.
Jasira Etana Scott leaves to cherish her memories Karen LaDonna Scott, mother; Christopher Collins, stepfather; and loving brother, Jaiteh Collins. Roz Ward, father; Ashley Ryan, Sierra Ryan, Tia Ward, and Tamara Ward, sisters; Augustus C. Scott, Jr., grandfather; Lois Greenwood, paternal grandmother; aunts and uncles: Samuel (Girtie) Jones, Shirley (Louis) Scott Brown, Barbara Scott, Lena (Bobby) Henderson, Linda (Jessie) Herman, Sherry Coleman, Brenda (Gregory) Scott-Henry, Calvin (Alberta) Scott, Sandra (Wilbert) Scott, Kawarren (Renee) Scott, and Frederick Scott. Jasira also leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins that she loved hanging out with, and numerous other family members and friends.
Jasira was preceded in death by Cora L. (Jones) Scott, grandmother; Fred Carmichel, Sr., and Augustus G. Scott, uncles; Joyce Greene, aunt; and a host of great-grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles of the Scott, Jones, Stanton, and Wren families.
Family and friends will truly miss Jasira.
