Mr. Johnnie Lee Perry was born on October 10, 1949, to the late Mrs. Jewel S. Bean and the late Mr. John Mac Perry in the small town of Shaw, located in Bolivar County, Mississippi. Johnnie Perry spent most of his childhood in Shaw, Mississippi, where he attended school and was mostly known for his outgoing personality. Many of his closest friends and family affectionately called him โPee-Weeโ.
Later he moved to Chicago Illinois, and Cleveland Ohio, where he lived with his father, John Mac Perry. Back home in Shaw, Mississippi, Johnnie was a farmer, but when he moved north to join his father and other close relatives who had relocated to cities like Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, and Cleveland, Ohio, he learned valuable trade skills. Mr. Johnnie Perry mostly made his living driving trucks and operating heavy machinery. In 1976, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to be with his mother and three younger sisters, Mary, LuTricia, and Bobby.
That same year, he met his beautiful young bride, Linda K. Perry, and they were married on Christmas Day, December 25, 1977. Johnnie and Linda Perry went on to have five children together, two boys and three girls. The Perry family was very close and looked to Mr. Johnnie Perry for leadership and advice. Some of Johnnie Perryโs favorite pastimes were football, fishing, and making people laugh. Mr. Johnnie will always be remembered as a laid-back guy and a great father who instilled the values of responsibility, honesty, hard work, and integrity in his family.
He leaves to cherish his legacy: his wife, Linda K. Perry; his son, Eric Decole Perry (Winter Perry); his daughters, Cassandra Perry, Kizzy Renee Perry-Grigsby (Allen Grigsby), Jennifer Denise Perry-Clark (Marquis Clark), Kisha Kay Perry, and Tia Perry; seven wonderful grandchildren, Erieuna Perry, Summer Stepeney, Eric Perry Jr., Audrina Perry, Moriah Clark, Allison Grigsby and Zoey Grigsby.
