Kiva Lynn Yarbrough Greenwade was born on January 25, 1958, to Agnes M. Epps and the late Clarence A. Yarbrough. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Paul and Marie Jones. She was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, at USAF Hospital and passed in Southaven, Mississippi, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. She was the oldest of six siblings, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a niece, and friend to many.
Kiva was a warm-hearted, beloved Woman of Christ. She was baptized at a young age at First Baptist Magnolia by Reverend R.L. Mitchell. She was a member of Bountiful Blessings Church in Memphis, Tennessee, led by Bishop G.E. Patterson.
Kiva was preceded in death by her brothers, Kevin Yarbrough, Kenneth Wayne Yarbrough, and Kerry Jerome Yarbrough, and her grandparents, Paul Jones and Marie Jones.
She attended Hamilton Junior High and graduated from Melrose High School in 1976. She then furthered her studies at LeMoyne Owen College. Quickly after college, she received a job as a property manager for Makowsky Ringel and later moved on to Remington College where she retired.
In 1982, Kiva married Elton Greenwade Jr., at Saint Baptist Church by Reverend Kirby in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She gave birth to her first son, Kevin Paul Mitchell Sr., on March 1, 1979, and her second son, Peter Greenwade, was born on February 20, 1981.
Kiva Greenwade was the embodiment of love. As a child, she was able to experience having a strong and loving village who all wanted to experience the blessing that she was. She was an example of sacrifice. She sacrificed for her husband, her children, and her grandbabies until her very last breath. She was the type of person that, when you were in her presence, you automatically felt loved, seen, and heard. She loved everyone she encountered as if they were her very own. She was a cheerful giver and willing to give anyone her last without hesitation or complaining. She was truly the definition of what Christ called us upon Earth to be.
Kiva leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Agnes Epps; two siblings, Allan Kirk Yarbrough and Jacquita Epps Campbell; her spouse, Elton Greenwade Jr.; two children, Kevin Paul Mitchell Sr., and Peter Lanell Greenwade; four grandchildren, Kevin Paul Mitchell Jr., Kelsey Renee Mitchell, Krissy Marie Mitchell, and JaCobi Amir Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
