To the Bland Family: My Family, Torsha, Terrica and I would like to offer our Deepest Condolences. May GOD COMFORT YOU ALL DURING THIS TIME. Larry will be Greatly Missed! Sadly, I was about to try to call him the day after his passing. What a Wonderful Man, always True to Himself and Others. He came into our lives approximately 30 years ago. First, at Classic Hitz and then as my nephew Barber. He took him under his kind wings because of his Autism. I travel a many Saturdays from Whitehaven to Chelsea Ave. Larry was a Fantastic Barber and Friend. He's Resting Now, Job Well Done! Always Kind, Caring, never Changing Calm Man. I will forever have Memories and a Gift Larry gave me, my 1st and only Set of Grizzlies Face Towels. One Saturday in the Shop he said, Here I got something for you! He knew I Loved the Grizzlies. I still have them unused! I was not able to attend the Funeral, I am battling Cancer. I was there in Spirit and my Heart goes out to each of you! WHAT A MAN, WHAT A MAN! He may not be here now, but he touched A Many Hearts. We are Praying for Strength for the Family. Chesteen Anthony
My deepest condolences to Larry Jr, and Cookie! I am deeply saddened by this. Your dad was my friend and step teacher. And the finest gentleman I knew. He will be sadly missed.

My condolences to the Bland family. I was actually thinking about Larry Bland about 2 weeks ago. Just found out from a neighbor that he passed away. He was a great man and leaves an awesome legacy. He cut my son's hair for 14 years, and even hired him (Keenon) to clean the shop and answer phones. Bland included lunch, and a free haircut when my son worked for him. Keenon and I will never forget his kindness and generosity. I pray for peace, support and comfort for the family. ππ½ππ½ππ½

My heart hurts for his family and friends. I met Larry in 1995 when he gave my 2 sons their first hair cut. He was also one of the most nicest and kind hearted people I've ever known. Fast forward to March 2022; I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. He was the first person I thought to call to ask him to cut all of my hair off because I didn't want to see it shed from the chemo. I called him and said I wanted to invite some of my friends and supporters to be there. At this time Covid protocols were in effect. He told me he couldn't have everyone in the shop. I understood. ; but he did something I will never forget!! He called me back and said he would open the shop up on Monday so that he could cut my hair and I could invite my friends. I was in tears when he said that. He said come back every week when the fuzz grow back and he would cut it for FREEπ and he did. That was the kind of person he was. He will be missed dearly. He was an Icon whom I will miss. Rest in Love; you have done the work.
Sandra Pryor (Hollins)
Sincere condolences to the family, Larry was a great man!
"A great neighbor is a blessing, but a neighbor of 48 years is a treasure. Larry Bland Sr. Wasn't just the man next door;he was part of the history of our home since 1978. We will miss his smile and his steady presence more than words can say. Sending our deepest condolences to his family." From the Griffin's
In memory of a great man of character. My son and I have such great memories of the time we spent in the shop with Mr Bland and his family. The many unspoken lessons of integrity, discipline and respect were present each and every time we entered the shop without a word being spoken. The solid and unshakable demeanor that he carried himself with, will ever live on in the memory of any person that met him. May God continue to bless and shine upon all his family and the many that were privileged to meet and know him. Dr. Rodric L. Miller

It's hard to find the right words to say goodbye to someone who's been part of my life for so long. Larry wasn't just someone who I called family β he was also a dear friend and my barber for over 40 years before I moved to Houston. In that time, he became much more than the man who cut my hair β he was a brother, a listener, and someone whose kindness never wavered. His laughter, wisdom, and steady spirit will always stay with me. I'll always cherish those years and the many conversations we shared. My deepest love and prayers go out to the Bland family. May Larry's gentle soul rest in eternal peace, and may we all carry a piece of his goodness with us. With love and heartfelt sympathy, Rick King and the King Family
