Obituary For Lawrence Dickerson

Lawrence Dickerson was born on June 16, 1953, to proud parents, Leo and Martha Dickerson. He transitioned peacefully at home on December 6, 2025.

Lawrence had four siblings, three of whom preceded him in death, Leo Dickerson Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Della Maclin of Somerville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Daisy Taylor of Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his youngest sister and caregiver of many years, Frances Dickerson of Dallas, Texas.

Lawrence graduated from Lester High School and served in the U.S. Navy from September 30, 1971, until his separation on September 30, 1974. His time in the military was a significant part of his life, reflecting his dedication and service to his country.

He and his ex-wife, Gwendolyn, welcomed a son, Adrian Dickerson, who resides in Milton, Florida. Later, he and Bobbie had a daughter, Mrs. Sherita Ash (James) of Arlington, Tennessee. Lawrence was also blessed with a grandson, Mr. Christian Ash.

He will be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Throughout his life, Lawrence faced numerous health challenges, including Alzheimer’s, heart failure, kidney issues, liver failure, and cancer. Despite these struggles, he fought valiantly. Today, we take comfort in the words, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” – II Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 11:00a.m.-12Noon Celebration of Life will be Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 12:00noon both will be held at RS Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119
